Swara Bhaskar on Hema Committee Report: Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar does not shy away from giving her opinion on every issue. She always remains in the news because of reacting on every issue. Recently, the report of the Justice Hema Committee has come out, after which there has been an uproar in the Malayalam industry. Now Swara Bhaskar must have read this report and has reacted. She has shared a long post on social media. She has also praised the Women in Cinema Collective. Appreciating their efforts, she has acknowledged their role in bringing to light the issues of sexual harassment and violence in the industry.

Sharing her thoughts on social media, Swara wrote- ‘I have just read the findings of the revised report of the Hema Committee and the findings are shocking… and familiar too! Here are some thoughts.’

Swara said this
Swara Bhaskar wrote in her post- ‘Reading the committee’s findings is heartbreaking and even more so because it is familiar. Perhaps not every detail and every nuance, but the big picture of the testimony given by the women is very familiar.’

Swara further wrote- ‘Showbiz has always been a male-centric industry with a patriarchal power system. It is also very sensitive to perception and also very risk averse. Every day of production – shooting days, as well as pre and post-production days – are days when the meter keeps running and money is spent. No one likes disruption. Even if one has raised his voice for what is morally right. It is very convenient and financially viable to just keep going.’

Swara Bhaskar has written many more things for the industry. Swara has also targeted many successful actors, directors and producers.

Let us tell you that the 296-page report of the Hema Committee was finally made public on 19 August. It includes the testimony of many women from the industry. At some places, the report mentions girls instead of women, which shows that minors can also be victims of sexual harassment.
